Loop diuretic in oral solution.
5 mL and 10 mL dropper bottle.
Torasemide acts on the medullary ascending limb of the loop of Henle. Loop diuretics inhibit especially the transportation of Na+ -K + -2Cl from the luminal plasma membrane.
For the treatment of dogs with clinical signs of edema and effusion related to canine congestive heart failure (CHF).
In patients with hypertension, associated with other anti-hypertensive agent
100 mL of the solution contains:
Torasemide 0.6 g.
Excipients q.s.
Each drop contains 0.2 mg
In mild cases, a dose of 0.2 mg/kg is used, equivalent to 1 drop per kg of body weight. In moderate to severe cases, the suggested dose is 0.4 mg/kg, equivalent to 2 drops per kg.
Food does not alter its absorption. Once clinical signs have been stabilized, continue with the lowest effective dose. Should a shift be made from furosemide to torasemide, an initial dose of 0.2 to 0.3 mg/kg is recommended.
Patients with hypersensitivity to torasemide. Cases of renal failure, dehydration, hypovolemia, arterial hypotension.
Renal blood parameters may be increased. Polydipsia. Polyuria. Hemoconcentration. Renal failure. Dehydration (long-term treatment). Electrolyte deficiency. Gastrointestinal disorders.
Its use during pregnancy and lactation is recommended only if the therapeutic benefit outweighs the potential risk.
Do not use with other loop diuretics.
