action

Fungistatic product. It interferes in the cell wall, protein and nucleic acid synthesis of actively growing fungi. Following its administration by oral route, it is absorbed at gastrointestinal level, selectively settling on the newly formed keratin of hair, nails and skin, and subsequently moving from these deep layers to the superficial keratin. Consequently, the concentration of Griseofulvin in the new epidermal cells provides mycostatic action against dermatophytes.

indications

Tinea. Dermatomycosis caused by Microsporum canis, Microsporum gypseum and Trichophyton mentagrophytes.

Each tablet contains:
Micronized griseofulvin 250 mg / 500 mg
Excipients q.s. according to package supplied.

dosage and administration

Administer 20-50 mg/kg divided into 2 daily takes for a period not shorter than 4-6 weeks, except for cases of "onychomycosis", which requires a 6-12 month treatment. The absorption of micronized griseofulvin can be improved with a fat-rich diet.

contraindications

Do not administer during pregnancy due to the risk of teratogenic effects.

collateral damage

Gastrointestinal abnormalities: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, flatulence, polydipsia (more frequent in felines). These effects rapidly subside upon drug discontinuation.
